Every year, a large number of babies are born prematurely, often with low birth weight. As a result of this, premature babies begin their lives in the Neo-natal intensive care units(NICU) of hospitals for nurturing because they lack the bodily fat required to maintain their body temperature, thus necessitating the absolute need for incubators to provide warmth and reduce the chances of infection. Premature babies are prone to a lot of complications requiring high technology specialised follow-up care as they grow. Sometimes they require corrective surgery. Grace Preemies foundation is a charitable organization set up to provide support to premature babbies and their families. We seek to promote both public and political awareness of the problems that these group of people face, to ensure that they receive the best medical, educational and other support services available

The birth of a baby brings so much Joy, but with a premature baby, it also brings a lot of psychological and emotional burden on the parents and families. Nurturing a baby through intensive care costs a lot of money and this could put a lot of strain on the finances of families where there is no medical coverage. Care is estimated at $1500 per day in intensive care. It also demands a lot of care and professionalism on the part of medical personnel.

The founders of Grace preemies Foundation are two time parents of premature babies born at 28 weeks and 25 weeks gestation respectively. They experienced first hand the pains of what is described by neonatal staff as the Roller Coaster Effect.

We honour all premature babies who fought for their lives and won and are today living testimonies of the sophisticated medical care and the unequalled resolve of medical personnel, support of friends and families. Above all those who survived owe this to the Grace of God. Unfortunately some did not make it through, but the Grace of God has certainly sustained their parents and families in their grief.

As complex as it sounds, a greater proportion of premature babies are born in the developing world, particularly in Africa, with less than a 10% chance of survival due to poor medical facilities and lack of basic amenities such as steady supply of electricity and water. Our objective is also to bring hope to such babies through our partners in providing basic medical equipment including incubators to improve survival rates
